# Add the assistant to your Webflow site | Busymate AI

Busymate AI reaches Webflow two ways: the universal embed script (any plan) and a Designer Extension that inserts the same embed as a real page element, without hand-editing code (build+stage today — see "Native path" below).

## Before you start

- A Webflow site (any plan) you can publish.
- Your workspace open in the Console.

## 1. Universal embed (Site Settings → Custom Code)

Webflow's Custom Code injection (Site Settings → Custom Code, or the per-page equivalent) is a **paid-plan feature** — Webflow's free Starter plan does not expose it. If your plan has it:

1. In your [Console](https://busymate.ai/console), open your connection settings and copy the embed `<script>` tag.
2. Site Settings → Custom Code → **Footer code** → paste the tag → Save → **Publish**.

On the Starter plan, the free-tier equivalent is to add a single **Embed** element to your page from the Designer's Add panel and paste the same script tag into it, then publish. A Designer Extension (below) does this same insert for you without leaving the Designer.

## 2. Native path: the Designer Extension

A Designer Extension can insert the embed as a real page element (an `HtmlEmbed`) directly from a panel inside the Designer — nothing to copy-paste. This is distinct from the universal embed above: it runs under your own Webflow session, using the Designer's own [Extensions API](https://developers.webflow.com/designer/reference/introduction), and works the same way regardless of whether Custom Code is available on your plan.

## 3. Teach it your content

Point a [website source](https://busymate.ai/ro/docs/guides/knowledge) at your published site — the same knowledge pipeline every connection uses, with citations back to the page an answer came from.

## 4. Recognize signed-in visitors

Webflow Memberships (paid plans) can carry your own sign-in; on plans without it, register the demo-signin pattern instead — see [Recognize signed-in customers](https://busymate.ai/ro/docs/guides/identified-visitors) for the exact fields (issuer, JWKS URL, the launch endpoint) and how to verify the wiring end to end before trusting it with real customer data.

## Troubleshooting

- **Custom Code section is greyed out or missing.** Your Webflow plan doesn't include Custom Code — use the Embed-element path in step 1, or the Designer Extension in step 2.
- **The chat answers generically instead of citing your page.** Knowledge needs to be added AND published — adding a source alone doesn't change live answers until you publish.
