Use Busymate AI in Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP client

Connect Busymate AI to Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Claude Code or any MCP client, sign in, and work your inbox, handoff requests and knowledge from the chat.

On this page

Busymate AI lets the AI assistant you already use work your workspaces for you: check what is waiting in the inbox, read and answer handoff requests, and search and add knowledge, without leaving the chat. You sign in with your own Busymate AI account, the client reaches only what that account can reach, and anything that sends a message to a customer waits for your approval.

Before you start

  • A Busymate AI account that belongs to at least one workspace. The client acts with your account's role, so an agent sees what an agent sees in the Console.
  • A client on a plan where connectors or apps are allowed. If your organization manages the client, an admin may need to allow Busymate AI first.

Every client talks to one address, https://busymate.ai/mcp, the same Busymate AI server for all of them. The tools you see follow your role, whichever client you use. A connector you added earlier keeps working unchanged.

1. Connect your client

Claude

  1. In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and find Busymate AI in the directory.
  2. Open the listing and choose Connect. To add a custom connector instead, use the address above.
  3. Turn the connector on for a conversation from the tools menu if it is not on already.

ChatGPT

The ChatGPT and Codex app is Early accessfollow the changelog; until it is listed, the other clients below offer the same tools today. From the day it is listed:

  1. In ChatGPT, open the apps directory, search for Busymate AI and choose Connect.
  2. In Codex, add Busymate AI from the plugin directory. Where your setup asks for a server address instead, use https://busymate.ai/mcp.

Claude Code

Run this command in a terminal, then sign in when the client asks:

bash
claude mcp add --transport http busymate-ai https://busymate.ai/mcp

Any MCP client

Add the server with the address and authorization your client expects. This is the configuration most clients accept:

json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "busymate-ai": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://busymate.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}

2. Sign in with Busymate AI

  1. Connecting opens a Busymate AI sign-in page at busymate.ai. Sign in with the account you use for the Console.
  2. Review what the client asks for and approve it.
  3. You return to the client, and the connection shows as connected.

The client never sees your password. It receives a token that lets it call Busymate AI as you; the token lasts an hour and is renewed while you stay connected.

3. Ask for what you need

Start a conversation and ask, for example "Which handoff requests are still open in my support workspace?" The server offers these groups of tools, among others:

GroupWhat the client can do
Workspaces and inboxList the workspaces you belong to and show inbox counts for each
Conversations and handoff requestsList conversations, read a transcript, list and open handoff requests, reply in the customer's website chat, resolve a request, and add a private note for your team
KnowledgeList a workspace's knowledge sources, search its knowledge, and add a website to learn from
Workspace settingsMembers and roles, branding, channels, connections, publishing: the same management work as the Console, as far as your role allows
InstallShow the snippet that adds your mate to a website

If you belong to more than one workspace, say which one ("in the Acme workspace") or ask the client to list them first. Tools that need no sign-in are listed in Public tools.

4. Approve actions that send messages

A reply to a handoff request goes to a real customer: it is posted in that customer's website chat. Every tool that changes something is marked as a change, so the client asks for your approval before it runs one. Keep approval on for changes and read the exact text before you allow it, because a sent message cannot be recalled. Your approval is the confirmation the Busymate AI server needs. Resolving a request, adding a note and adding a knowledge source are changes too. Reads (counts, lists, transcripts, searches) run straight away.

Verify

  1. Ask "List my Busymate AI workspaces": the answer matches the workspace switcher in the Console.
  2. Ask for the inbox counts of one workspace and compare them with the Console's Inbox.
  3. Open a test handoff request, ask the client to draft a reply, and check that it asks before sending.
  4. Allow it, then open the same conversation in the Console: the reply is there, sent from your workspace.

Troubleshooting

  • Sign-in fails or loops. Sign in to busymate.ai in the same browser first, then connect again. Disconnect and reconnect if an old sign-in is stuck.
  • Wrong workspace. Name the workspace in your request, or ask the client to list your workspaces. If one is missing, your account is not a member of it; ask its admin.
  • A tool says you are not allowed. The connection uses your role. An action your role cannot take in the Console is refused here too.
  • The client does not use Busymate AI. Check that it is switched on for the conversation, then ask again and name Busymate AI.
  • Disconnect. In the client's Settings, open Connectors (or Apps), choose Busymate AI and disconnect. To have access revoked from our side as well, see the support page.

Questions

Who publishes the connector?

The developer listed in the directory, named on the support page together with its terms and privacy policy.

Does the client see all of my workspace data?

No. It sees only the results of the tools it calls for your requests, such as the transcript you asked to read. Those results then become part of your conversation with the client.

Can it send a message without me?

A reply is a change, and the client asks for your approval before it sends one. Keep approval on for changes and read the text before you allow it.

Is this the same as the full management server?

Yes. There is one Busymate AI server, at https://busymate.ai/mcp. What you can do from a client is what your role allows, the same as in the Console and in Managing from chat.
