Do I need a developer?

Not for Shopify — the app sets itself up. Connecting your own systems takes someone who can run an MCP server or publish your website's actions; the guides walk them through it.

What can the assistant change?

Only what you connect and allow. Look-ups need a signed-in customer; the changes you mark are shown in full and wait for a yes; anything above a limit you set goes to a person.

Does it work with tools that are not Shopify?

Yes. Anything that speaks MCP connects the same way, and any website can publish its actions. If your systems do not speak MCP yet, your own MCP server is the adapter.
