The Busymate AI app lets ChatGPT and Codex work your Busymate AI workspaces for you: check what is waiting in the inbox, read and answer handoff requests, and search and add knowledge, without leaving the chat. You sign in with your own Busymate AI account, the app reaches only what that account can reach, and anything that sends a message to a customer waits for your approval.
In review. The Busymate AI app is waiting for approval in OpenAI's directory and is not listed there yet. The steps below apply from the day it is listed; the Claude connector offers the same tools today.
What you need
- A Busymate AI account that belongs to at least one workspace. The app acts with your account's role in each workspace, so an agent sees what an agent sees in the Console.
- ChatGPT or Codex, on a plan and workspace where apps are allowed. If your organisation manages ChatGPT, an admin may need to allow the app first.
The app talks to one address: https://busymate.ai/mcp/openai. It is a curated set of tools for day-to-day support work, not the full management surface.
1. Add the app
- In ChatGPT, open the apps directory and search for Busymate AI.
- Open the listing and choose Connect.
- In Codex, add Busymate AI from the plugin directory. Where your Codex setup asks for a server address instead, use
https://busymate.ai/mcp/openai.
2. Sign in with Busymate AI
- The connect step opens a Busymate AI sign-in page at busymate.ai. Sign in with the account you use for the Console.
- Review what the app asks for and approve it.
- You return to ChatGPT or Codex, and the app shows as connected.
The AI assistant never sees your password. It receives a token that lets it call Busymate AI as you; the token lasts an hour and is renewed while you stay connected.
3. Ask for what you need
Start a chat and name the app, or just ask — for example "How many handoff requests are waiting in my support workspace?" The app offers these groups of tools:
| Group | What the AI assistant can do |
|---|---|
| Workspaces and inbox | List the workspaces you belong to and show inbox counts for each |
| Conversations and handoff requests | List conversations, read a transcript, list and open handoff requests, reply in the customer's website chat, resolve a request, and add a private note for your team |
| Knowledge | List a workspace's knowledge sources, search its knowledge, and add a website for your mate to learn from |
| Install | Show the snippet that adds your mate to a website |
If you belong to more than one workspace, say which one — "in the Acme workspace" — or ask the AI assistant to list them first.
4. Approve actions that send messages
A reply to a handoff request goes to a real customer: it is posted in that customer's website chat conversation. These tools are marked as changes, and the Busymate AI server refuses them unless the call is explicitly confirmed. ChatGPT and Codex can ask for your approval before such an action runs: read the exact text before you approve, because a sent message cannot be recalled. Resolving a request, adding a note and adding a knowledge source are changes too, and are confirmed the same way. Reads — counts, lists, transcripts and searches — run straight away.
Verify
- Ask "List my Busymate AI workspaces" — the answer matches the workspace switcher in the Console.
- Ask for the inbox counts of one workspace and compare them with the Console's Inbox.
- Open a test handoff request, ask the AI assistant to draft a reply, and check that it asks before sending.
- Approve it, then open the same conversation in the Console: the reply is there, sent from your workspace.
Troubleshooting
- Sign-in fails or loops. Sign in to busymate.ai in the same browser first, then connect again. Disconnect and reconnect the app if an old sign-in is stuck.
- Wrong workspace. Name the workspace in your request, or ask the AI assistant to list your workspaces and pick one by name. If a workspace is missing, your account is not a member of it — ask its admin.
- A tool says you are not allowed. The app uses your role. An action your role cannot take in the Console is refused here too.
- Disconnect. In ChatGPT or Codex, open Settings, then Apps (or Connectors), choose Busymate AI and disconnect it. To have access revoked from our side as well, see the support page.
Next
- Use Busymate AI in Claude — the same tools as a Claude connector.
- Set up human handoff — what fills the handoff queue the app works.
- Service status — check here first when the app stops answering.
Вопросы
Who publishes the app?
The app is published by the developer listed in the directory, named on the support page together with its terms and privacy policy.
Does ChatGPT see all of my workspace data?
No. It sees only the results of the tools it calls for your requests, such as the transcript you asked to read. Those results then become part of your chat with ChatGPT.
Can the app send a message without me?
A reply is a change, and the server refuses it unless the call is confirmed. Read the text ChatGPT or Codex shows you before you approve it.
Is this the same as connecting the full management server?
No. The app's address serves a curated set of support tools. Admin work such as publishing an assistant stays in the Console and the full server described in Managing from chat.
